CONSONANTS

 

N’Ko writing contains 18 consonants and the N'  (z) Character. To say the name (pronunciation) of a consonant add the vowel ‘AH’ (A) to it.  As an example, to say the name of  ‘B‘ is  ' ab '  (BAH)  and the name of the letter ‘Y’ is 'Ay ' (YAH). As in the vowels the use of N'Ko consonants can be closely related to the English consonants as one can see in the table below. B (ab ) has the same function in N'Ko as B in English, T (at) is similar to T in English.  However some letter can only be approximated with English letters such as C, G, X (see the table below)
